Road bikes, both individual and team, include various forms of racing such as one-day racing, criterium, individual timing, to multi-track tournaments like the Tour de France and Grand Tour prizes.
Races usually take place from spring to autumn. Many riders in the Northern Hemisphere often move to countries such as Australia in winter to practice. Professional races can last three weeks such as those of the "Grand Tour" (Tour de France, Giro d'Italia and Vuelta a España), many days such as the Tour de Suisse and the Tour of California, one day like the De Ronde van Vlaanderen and Milan – San Remo. The Criterium takes place at racetracks about less than a mile and sometimes takes place in fixed intervals (60 minutes, 90 minutes, etc.). Criterium is a popular form of racing in North America. In addition to races where all riders start at the same time, individual and team timers are also held as part of the tournament.
