Dragonflies have been classified with phytoplankton (Ephemeroptera) and several other orders in the Palaeoptera class, however this arrangement appears sub-branched. The characteristic that dragonflies share with phytoplankton is the moving and controlling nature of the wings (see flight (insect) for details).
There was also a time when Anisoptera was classified as a subset (subset) next to a third subset, Anisozygoptera (ancient dragonfly). However, Anisoptera is now downgraded to a sub-order of the Epiprocta sub-order after it was discovered that the Anisozygoptera was essentially a sub-branch consisting of most of the branches that were extinct at various points in the process. of Anisoptera (Lohmann 1996, Rehn 2003).
